The Sharks re-signed left winger Jamie McGinn to a one year contract. The contract is a two-way deal worth $680K in the NHL and $105K in the AHL. If the Sharks want to send him down, he would have to pass through waivers.
McGinn started the year on the third line, but he really struggled. He scored his only goal of the season in his 45th game. He was sent to the minors right before the all-star break and did not return until the playoffs. Casual hockey fans will probably recognize McGinn’s name because of the two major penalties he took during the playoffs. One of them was a charging penalty on Brad Richardson late in regulation during Game 6 against the Kings. The Sharks killed off the penalty and won in overtime. He also took a boarding penalty in the third period of Game 3 against the Canucks, which knocked Aaron Rome out of the game.
