The Penguins announced that they have signed defenseman Jay McKee to a one year contract for a miserly $800,000. Not only did Ray Shero get the veteran defensive defenseman that was needed, he was able to sign him on the cheap.McKee was bought out of his contract by the St. Louis Blues and will be getting a decent sum of money from them. So I am guessing he figured he should take a shot at the cup rather than look for big money. At least this season. Don't get me wrong, the 4 mill he was making with the Blues was a bit of an overpayment but Mckee, at the age of 31 is a solid shotblocking d-man that should fill the Scuderi role nicely.So now our defensive corp looks like this:Orpik-GoncharEaton-LetangMcKee-GoligoskiThat looks rather solid as you have a strong defensive partner matched up with each of the more offensively gifted guys. Lets not overlook the fact that McKee is 6'4" and weighs 203 so he adds some size which is nice with the USS Hal Gill moving on to the Cana...
