Howdy from beautiful Ottawa. All week it's been RibFest downtown in the market. Great event.
Yesterday was not a good day for the Senators on-ice management in my opinion. They failed to deal Dany Heatley which now may mean he stays with the Senators. Whether he shows up to training camp is a blog for another day, however I will say this...if the Senators gave partial blame to distractions by Ray Emery for their 2007-08 first round exit then I can only imagine what kind of effect Dany Heatley will have on the club if he isn't dealt.
Also yesterday in my humble opinion was a poor day at the draft for the Senators. 18-year old D Jared Cowen was the team's first pick in the draft (9th overall, ahead of Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, Zack Kassian and Dmitry Kulikov). The 6'5, 218 pd. defensive-defensemen has both the size and strength to be a 'shut-down' defensemen in the future. He has a very good work ethic, is discipline (had only 45 PIM last season in the WHL)...
