In response to Cam Talbot being recalled to the Rangers and Martin Biron deciding his future since demotion, the Hartford Wolfpack have promoted goalie Jeff Malcolm from the ECHL’s Greenville Road Warriors. Malcolm was part of the first round of cuts from Rangers camp in September, and then was cut from Hartford two weeks later.
The ECHL has not started their season yet, so there are no stats for Malcolm.

Dan Girardi has been poor so far.
Dan Girardi has had an atrocious start to the season but yet is one of the key players the Rangers will have to rely on to turn their difficult start around. While plus/minus is not a particularly accurate statistic, his minus 7 rating is a bad indicator and Girardi’s decision making, positioning and overall game thus far have been far from his...
Veteran goalie Martin Biron and rugged forward Arron Asham are being assigned by the New York Rangers to Hartford of the AHL after clearing waivers.
The moves were announced on Tuesday, one day after the players were placed on waivers following New York's rough 1-4 start to the season. The Rangers recalled center J.T. Miller and goalie Cam Talbot from Hartford to replace them...
Per Pierre LeBrun, both Arron Asham and Martin Biron have cleared waivers. Both will be (have not at the moment) assigned to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL. However, Biron has hinted he might retire instead. Can’t blame him, he’s got a family to think about.
Dan Rosen at NHL.com had an interesting nugget of information this morning, noting that “Brian Leetch was prepared to move back to New York to join Mark Messier on the New York Rangers’ coaching staff” should Messier win the head coaching job in New York. Leetch would have been one of Messier’s assistants, likely –my assumption– working with the defensemen and the...
One or both of Miller and Kreider are expected to be recalled today.
After Arron Asham and Martin Biron were placed on waivers yesterday, there was a lot of discussion about what moves the Rangers would be making. I heard everything from a trade (no specifics, just “they are going to make a trade”) to a much more rational call up. In my humble opinion, the Rangers aren’t going...
One fan had a very tender message for Brad Richards on Wednesday night, and he found a way to get noticed — nationally noticed, actually.
Pierre McGuire was in the middle of an interview with Rangers head coach Alan Vigneault when a slightly creepy, OK really creepy, handmade sign slowly made its way into the shot.
In a love note of sorts for Brad Richards, one Rangers fan showed...
Monday was a tough day for the Rangers and they didn’t even play a game.
Coach Alain Vigneault said after practice in Greenburgh that right wing Rick Nash “is still feeling some symptoms” from Tuesday’s concussion in San Jose and the team placed Nash on injured reserve.
“Until I hear otherwise I don’t expect him back” Vigneault said.
Nash has missed two games already...
According to sources including ESPN the New York Rangers have place Rick Nash on the injured reserve list.
After being the subject of a high hit from Brad Stuart, defenseman of the San Jose Sharks, Rick Nash is still not skating after nearly a week. This however is not the worst part. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault explained, according to the team’s Twitter account that...
from Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants,
As was indicated after Saturday’s 5-3 loss at St. Louis, the Rangers certainly do have questions about Marty Biron’s suitability to be their backup goalie this season.
GM Glen Sather said today as the Rangers began their noon practice that Biron and right wing Arron Asham are indeed both on waivers today. There is a 24-hour period prior...
The New York Rangers are off to a simply abysmal start with a 1-4-0 record and a minus-16 goal differential so something has to change. On Monday GM Glen Sather made the first moves. Joining the waiver wire on Monday were forward Arron Asham as well as veteran backup goaltender Martin Biron. Biron being cut is a surprise even though his numbers are as bad as you'll see in the...
Henrik Lundqvist earned his 46th NHL shutout, Brad Richards assisted on two New York goals less than two minutes apart in the second period, and the Rangers beat familiar postseason foe Washington 2-0 on Wednesday night to end a three-game losing streak.
Richards helped set up goals by Ryan Callahan and John Moore, and Lundqvist made the limited offense hold up in a 22-save performance...
Just like in the world of sports anything can change in an instant, so I learned it can also happen to a writer. I had intentions of writing on the success and predictable success for the future of the Benoit Pouliot, Derick Brassard and Mats Zuccarello line. I and the rest of Ranger Nation could […]
Playoffs or regular season, New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist has been absolutely perfect the past three times he has faced Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
So what if the Rangers were struggling under first-year coach Alain Vigneault? Lundqvist felt good about his team's chances Wednesday night, then backed that up with his 46th NHL shutout in New York'...

The Rangers have lost three in a row, two in epic fashion, and now stand at 1-4 to start the season. Most of us said we would be happy with a 4-4-1 start to the season, considering the road trip. That’s still doable, but it begins tonight with a win against a Washington Capitals team that is also struggling. Their powerplay is lethal though, so it’s a...
