Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard is hopeful that his knee injury won't keep him out long. Howard spoke to reporters in Tampa and said he will undergo an MRI Friday morning. "It was at the end (of practice), we were having a little fun playing rebound," Howard told Mlive.com. "I went to my right, to kick out my right leg, made a dandy of a save, but just felt something go wrong with my (left) knee." Howard said he didn't feel any different 24 hours after suffering the injury. As for other injured Wings, there's some improvement. Defenseman Danny DeKeyser (shoulder) is eligible to come off long-term injured reserve Saturday but won't be quite ready. "Starting to feel a lot better, shooting the puck well, starting to take some slap shots and just getting more comfortable with the shoulder," DeKeyser told Mlive.com. "Itll still be a little bit, hopefully not too much longer. I dont have an exact time, just going to take it day by...

Wounded Wing: Howard (MCL sprain) out 2-4 weeks

Jimmy Howard‘s knee injury is a Grade 1 MCL sprain, according to Detroit GM Ken Holland, meaning the Red Wings goalie will miss the next 2-4 weeks of action. News of the diagnosis comes just one day after Horward said he wasn’t “that concerned about” the injury, telling reporters he didn’t expect to be out of the lineup for very long. But that was before the MRI. Howard...

The Red Wings just can't seem to avoid the injury bug. On Wednesday, it was goaltender Jimmy Howard's turn to get bit and center Stephen Weiss' turn to get bit again. According to reports out of Tampa, Howard suffered what's believed to be a minor injury in practice. So the Wings recalled goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and are putting...

Good news about Red Wings’ DeKeyser, Helm and Zetterberg from MLive’s Khan

I think Red Wings fans need to hear this after enduring so very much bad news regarding the Red Wings' injuries, as punctuated by Jimmy Howard's status as on the IR and out for 2-4 weeks with a sprained left knee: Ken Holland said they're shooting for Dec. 28 return for DeKeyser, Helm and Zetterberg. He said DeKeyser and Helm might be back before that. ...

Red Wings spent Friday ringing bells for the Salvation Army

The Red Wings' "off day" involved bad news in terms of Jimmy Howard's knee, good news regarding the statuses of Henrik Zetterberg, Darren Helm and Danny DeKeyser, and significant charitable contributions in the literal and figurative senses by both members of the Wings team, front office and the team that is the Metro Detroit community at large, as DetroitRedWings...

Red Wings-Panthers wrap-up and overnight report: 32 games in, jittery Wings performing as expected

My overriding thought regarding the Red Wings' 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers, at least when I was trying to curl up in bed until my, "Be a responsible adult with a bad virus and write up a wrap-up, dammit" voice in my head won out, had little to do with the Wings' litany of 3rd-period collapses, their 10 straight shootout defeats, Jimmy Howard's...
