The Toronto Maple Leafs found themselves yesterday edging closer to the Ottawa Senators in the 2011/12 playoff race when the buds beat the Senators in a 5-0 shutout win.
Yesterday’s storyline for the battle of Ontario classic was written by James Reimer second shutouts in as many games and Phil Kessel breaking his mini sleep by recorded 1 goal and 2 assists.
Dion Phaneuf, Tyler Bozak, Luke Schenn and Cody Franson were the players to round out the scoring for the Maple Leafs.
Though the unknown story that needs to be told is the fact that during the Saturday night’s game in Ottawa, Joffrey Lupul 2 assist broke his previous career point total of 53, which was set back in 2005/06 season with the Anaheim Ducks.
However, what makes this personal recorded even more special for Lupul, is that his 54 points was set in 52 games. This 28 year-old still has 30 games left in the regular season.
