Puck 'dropped' for Maple Leafs game from space
Ceremonial puck drops have become pretty routine. Player X walks out, drops the puck and that's that. The Toronto Maple Leafs decided to add some creativity to their opening puck drop, dropping the puck from the International Space Station. Some friends in high places (literally) and a bit of TV magic combined to make this one of the most fun and most innovative puck drops...
Colton Orr And Deryk Engeland Awesome Hockey Brawl
Colton Orr and Deryk Engeland really like to fight each other. They had a few good brawls back in 2010 and tonight they continued it with a near minute and a half long boxing match. This was one hell of a fight. It looks like Engeland got the worst of it. Via Puck Daddy var conf_57487 = { APIKey: '2_N1YlfjHIEAtyRAK3CAYRE5a1aBuANuMOCLc_7hsOQ13HnwCrW_u-6OuDhjC7vR06 ...

Canadian astronaut drops puck before Maple Leafs’ home opener…from space! (video)
Chris Hadfield is an astronaut and a Canadian hero. He is currently stationed at the International Space Station, and on Monday night, he took part in the ceremonial puck drop before the Toronto Maple Leafs held their home opener at Air Canada Centre against the Buffalo Sabres. Hadfield is an Ontario native and a Maple Leafs fan, so I’m sure it was quite a thrill to take part in...
Report: Leafs without Lupul
Six to eight weeks, perhaps? That seems to be the standard period of absence for an NHL player with a broken/fractured forearm. So there's a good chance that's how long the Toronto Maple Leafs will have to manage without top-line forward Joffrey Lupul. As reported by the Toronto Sun, preliminary X-rays revealed a fracture after Lupul took a shot (from teammate Dion Phaneuf...
Colton Orr Closes Deryk Engelland’s Eye Via Long Brawl Last Night In Pittsburgh
The Maple Leafs’ Colton Orr and Pittsbugh’s Deryk Engelland renewed their pugilistic rivalry last night with one of the better fights in the history of this relationship. You might remember back in 2010 when Engelland knocked out Orr with a single punch to Orr’s face that left the fighter with concussion issues.
Last night it was Orr’s turn to work on Engelland’s face...

As expected, the Maple Leafs have made a roster move to compensate for the injury to winger Joffrey Lupul, who suffered broken forearm in Toronto's 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
As per the Globe and Mail's James Mirtle, the club has recalled winger Matt Frattin this morning.
The Toronto Marlies are in Cleveland to play the Lake Erie Monsters this evening...
Colton Orr And Deryk Engelland Beat The Crap Out Of Each Other (Again) Last Night
Colton Orr and Derek Engelland have a rivalry that dates all the way back to 2000, when they first dropped the gloves as youngsters in the Western Hockey League (WHL), and then later in the AHL and NHL. As you can see from the video above, that rivalry still burns pretty good to this day. Engelland has a history of getting the better of Orr (see here and here) but this latest bout...
Islanders' four-goal third period downs Maple Leafs
TORONTO -- New York Islanders coach Jack Capuano gave the Toronto Maple Leafs credit for their fast start in racing to a 3-1 lead after the first period on Thursday night. "I just thought they executed much better. I thought they got in on the forecheck much harder and I think they executed their breakouts much better than we did in the first and they activated real well,...

Dion Phaneuf blast John Tavares from behind.
Not a good hit by Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneauf on Islanders forward John Tavares. I am also shocked that there was no penalty on the play as the referee was standing where he could see the play.
