Johnny Boychuk isn’t interested in paying the piper. Boychuk unleashed an awesome fit of rage on Tuesday night against the Stars and put two members of the Dallas hockey club flat on the TD Garden ice in a span of about five seconds. It started when Erik Cole thought it was a good idea to break the puck out of his zone with his head down. Boychuk pinched in and absolutely popped Cole — sending his stick flying in the process. The hit was clean, but in today’s unwritten hockey rule book, clean hits don’t even go unpunished so Cole’s teammate Vernon Fiddler stepped in to make Boychuk pay for his actions — or so he thought. Boychuk, with Cole staggering to his feet just behind him, saw Fiddler coming and flung off his mitts before tackling the centerman to the ice before he could even get his own gloves off. Berkshire Bank Rewind: David Krejci’s Line Creates Offense for Bruins With Good Forecheck (Video)

The Bruins used an effective forecheck in the second period of Thursday’s game against the Panthers to create sustained offensive zone pressure against the Panthers. It all started with Jarome Iginla putting pressure on the Florida puck carrier, then David Krejci forced a turnover and led Boston’s rush into the attacking zone. It was a great shift by the B’s first line, which...

Stars slip past Red Wings in OT

Rich Peverley's goal at 4:41 of overtime completed a comeback and gave the Dallas Stars a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. Peverley beat Howard on a wrist shot from the high slot. Shawn Horcoff, Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin also for Dallas. Kari Lehtonen stopped 26 shots. Todd Bertuzzi and Pavel Datsyuk each had a goal and an assist, Adam Almquist got his...

Bruins Look to Bust Out of Slump Against Panthers, Plan to Simply ‘Get Back to Basics’ (Video)

The Bruins are in the midst of a slump, dropping four of their last five games, but the B’s will look to turn things around when the Panthers come to town on Thursday night. While the Bruins have showed flashes of excellence in the early part of the season, they’ve also been plagued by inconsistency and Claude Julien has been preaching better decision-making with his players...

Bruins-Stars Live: Tyler Seguin Returns to Boston As B’s Look to Get Back On Track Against Dallas

8 a.m.: Tuesday night will mark the return of Tyler Seguin to Boston, but if the Bruins are paying any attention to that, they’re in more trouble than we might think. Seguin will be back in Boston on Tuesday night for the first time since being traded to Dallas over the summer, but the B’s cannot worry about that. They are coming off their worst showing of the season in a 3-1...

Crowd Taunts Seguin. Seguin Schools Rask. BRUINS LOSE.

Same ole Bruins this season. Too little too late on the effort. Too many mental miscues. A power play more impotent than a 90 year old man on life support. The season is young. The Bruins will in all likelihood make the playoffs. But that doesn't make this **** show we've been watching any better. We love you guys. We're paying to see you. Maybe reward us a...

Red Wings-Stars set-up and overnight report: Wings hope to right home-ice record vs. Nill’s Stars

The storylines for the next two games and couple of days have already been written ahead of tonight's tilt against the Dallas Stars (7:30 PM EST, FSD/FS Southwest/97.1 FM; tonight is Henrik Zetterberg bobblehead night). The four main storylines read as follows: 1. Tonight, the Red Wings battle Jim Nill's Dallas Stars, who are 7-6-and-2 and are wrapping up a 3-game road...

Pavel Datsyuk Scores Dazzling Go-Ahead Goal vs. Dallas Stars

Pavel Datsyuk did it again. After the Detroit Red Wings coughed away a 2-0 lead Monday night against the Dallas Stars, Datsyuk (who earlier picked up an assist on a Todd Bertuzzi goal), delivered a brilliant goal to put the Wings back on top. Datsyuk took a pass in the slot from captain Henrik Zetterberg, deked his way through the defense and beat Kari Lehtonen with a wrister....

Jesse Winchester Hits Bruins’ Chris Kelly With Nasty Elbow, No Penalty is Called (GIF)

Jesse Winchester will likely receive a call from Brendan Shanahan and the NHL’s Department of Player Safety over the next 24 hours for his nasty elbow to the head of Bruins center Chris Kelly during the first period of Thursday’s game. The Panthers forward not only delivered a vicious elbow with Kelly’s head being the principal point of contact, it also appeared that his skates...

Seguin and Peverley notch the SO winners, Stars beat B's 3-2

(Photo by Jared Wickerham/Getty Images)Of course Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley ripped home the only two goals for Dallas in the shootout to steal the extra point from Boston...Sport is a funny thing sometimes. In the much-anticipated return of former Bruins young-gun Tyler Seguin back to Boston, the actual game itself did not quite live up to the billing. However, at the end of...

Slovakia Unveils Simple, Classy Hockey Uniforms for 2014 Sochi Olympics (Video)

Zdeno Chara may be the best dressed man in Sochi this February. The Bruins defenseman’s native country, Slovakia, unveiled its uniforms for the 2014 Winter Olympics on Tuesday, and — luckily for Big Z — they aren’t nearly as ridiculous as the ones that will be worn by the United States and Canada. In fact, one could argue that Slovakia’s is the classiest Sochi sweater yet...

Bruins get back on track, beat Panthers 4-1

The Bruins got back on the winning track and beat the lowly Panthers 4-1 at the TD Garden. It was another slow start for the B's (stop me if you've heard that these past three weeks). A scoreless first period between the two teams with not much going on, save for a questionable high-hit on Chris Kelly from Jesse Winchester which saw no penalty called. Gregory Campbell fought Winchester...

Bruins forced to deal with it

No matter how the summer’s blockbuster trade turns out — and we could be years away from determining the real winner — this one thing is certain: The Bruins’ 3-2 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars last night at the Garden had to smart a little bit for the brass. After the B’s lost a late lead on a self-inflicted wound from two of their more veteran players, the teams went...

Tyler Seguin returns to Boston a Star

photo via cbs.comWhen the puck drops at 7:07 tonight at the Garden, most B's fans tuning in will see for the first time Tyler Seguin wearing an NHL jersey that doesn't contain a spoked-B (or a daunting and menacing bear). Instead, the digits will be flipped (#91) and the trim will be white and green. And the emotions will definitely be different. The Dallas Stars will make...

Bruins-Panthers Live: B’s Once Again Try to Right Ship, Continue Homestand by Hosting Florida

8 a.m.: The Bruins aren’t necessarily in an unfamiliar position, but that doesn’t make it feel any better. The B’s are in a pretty nasty funk right now, which is something they’ve been wont to do in past seasons, and they’ll look to snap out of that on Thursday night. Boston has lost four of its last five, and the Bruins will attempt to get back on the right track when...
