TEAMS: Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators
It comes with little surprise that Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk officially has been ruled out indefinitely with a concussion. Boychuk was absolutely crushed by Senators forward Chris Neil in Ottawa this past Saturday in a collision that left Neil shaken up as well. Despite the viciousness of the hit, it was a clean shoulder-to-chest impact.
Given the current sensitivity surrounding concussions in the NHL there is no timetable for Boychuk's return. We've seen how coming back too early from concussions can turn into a serious problem so I don't expect to see Boychuk suit up too soon.
Yesterday's trade deadline acquisitions of Matt Mottau and Greg Zanon have given the Bruins some extra depth at defense and we should expect too see significant ice time for one of those guys now that Boychuk has been sidelined.
Dennis Seidenberg replaced Boychuk as Chara’s linemate in practice yesterday and the two were a formidable duo in the playoffs last year but it was Andrew Ference who was paired with Z this morning, so it will be interesting to see what lines Claude Julien puts out on the ice tonight in the latter half of the home-and-home against Ottawa.

Tim Thomas, Bruins 'Home, Cooked' After Exhausting Road Trip, Disappointing Loss in Return to Boston (Video)
Home is where the heart is, but the Bruins' just didn't have enough to win this one. The B's couldn't quite mesh with their new parts and pull together for a second straight win over the Senators. They were shut out again, 1-0, the fifth shutout against the Bruins this month. Luckily, February is on its way out. As NESN Nation's Dan Duquette reminds us, after...
Fighting Words From Corvo
from Matt Kalman of The Bruins Blog, The NHL didn’t hand down any discipline to Ottawa forward Kyle Turris for his hit to the head of Boston’s Joe Corvo Saturday night.
Fortunately for Corvo, he gets a chance at doling out his own discipline just three nights later.
Corvo today after practice at Ristuccia Arena voiced his displeasure with the hit and Turris’ explanation that...
Tuukka Rask Was Never Available at Trade Deadline According to Bruins President, Cam Neely
Finally the NHL trade deadline has come and passed. Players will no longer have to hear constant speculation about possible deals that could involve them. One of those players that heard his name floating around the rumor mill was Bruins goaltender, Tuukka Rask. However, Bruins President Cam Neely went on the Felger and Massarrotti Show on Tuesday afternoon to reitterate the team...
Bruins Fail to Capitalize on Chance for Stranglehold on Division, Allow Senators to Make It a Race in Northeast
BOSTON – The Bruins remain in control of their destiny in the division, but they’re going to have to work a lot harder for that title now. Boston came into Tuesday with a chance to extend their lead over Ottawa in the Northeast Division to five points with four games in hand. But the Bruins failed to muster a single goal, and now their lead is down to a single point after a 1...

Newly acquired Greg Zanon doesnt foresee much of a transition period with the Bruins.
Report: Johnny Boychuk 'Still a Little Foggy' Following Hit by Chris Neil
Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk was leveled by Ottawa's Chris Neil during Saturday's game. And although the hit appeared to be clean, it was obvious that Boychuk was a bit shaken up. Boychuk left the game and did not return as the third period saw an increase in physical play. Details of the defenseman's injury were limited right after the game, although head coach Claude...

Bruins recall Bodnarchuk, Sauve

Bodnarchuk had been with the team on ...
Did the Bruins do enough at the deadline?
So the trade deadline has come to pass and all the deals are done. No team really made a major deadline deal because the price seemed too high but a lot of teams made good depth transactions to shore up some weaknesses. As we know the Bruins brought in three veterans in Brian Rolston, Mike Mottau, and Greg Zanon without losing anything from their 20 man roster. The question...
61. Ottawa Senators at Boston Bruins. The Bruins Ottawin, AMIRITE?!
The trade deadline has come and went. The Bruins didn't make a huge splash when the clock ticked to 3:01pm EST. No Rick Nash, no Dustin Brown, no Zach Parise, no Ryan Suter. Instead the Bruins ended Monday with Brian Rolston, Mike Mottau and Greg Zanon, obviously adding more depth than superstar factor. To be fair, I am okay with these deals For Rolston and Mottau they gave...
Thornton in Their Side
by Kirk DouglasLast week the Bruins had an impressive road win against the very pesky Senators. The game featured another strong performance from the Bergeron line, a goal by David Krejci, and a memorable night for rookie Carter Camper, scoring his first in the NHL. The Sens made it a nail biter when Daniel Alfredsson just starting letting seeds fly from the half wall. Only an...
