Oh, how the tables turned against the Kings at the end of Game 3. After being on the wrong end of a miraculous comeback in Game 2 thanks to a late two-man advantage, the Sharks were the ones who capitalized on penalties late to capture Game 3 on a Logan Couture overtime winner.
The Kings were already a man down with under a minute in regulation after a Robyn Regehr hooking minor when Trevor Lewis was also sent off for goalie interference with five seconds remaining on the clock. The Kings argued Lewis was pushed into Antti Niemi, to no avail. That gave the Sharks 1:19 of 5-on-3 heading into overtime. It was looking a whole lot like de ja vu.
The Regehr penalty expired without a Sharks score. But not long after, still a man up, Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Couture played tic-tac-toe to blast the puck past Jonathan Quick to secure the win. The Kings’ series lead is now down to 2-1.
