The Winnipeg Jets are coming off their strongest game of the season and could get one of their top scorers back as they look to build on it. Although left-winger Evander Kane continues to deal with a lower-body injury didn’t skate for a third consecutive day, Jets head coach Claude Noel said Kane would accompany the team to Chicago for Wednesday’s game against the Blackhawks. “He’s making the trip, he’ll be day-to-day and we’ll reassess the situation in Chicago tomorrow,” said Noel. Since it’s a one-game swing and Kane is making the trip instead of remaining back in Winnipeg for further treatment, there must be a decent chance he could return to the lineup. The Jets are coming off a 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings and hoping to bottle up the same effort and energy level against a Blackhawks team that beat them 5-1 on Saturday. “The goal really is to be consistently solid in back-to-back games,” said Noel. “We finally played a decent game and got rewarded for it. When you watch the tape back, there’s a lot of good things that we did. “When we played Chicago, we basically played them 20 minutes and did some things that cost us. We’re going to have to focus on smaller increments of the game. Keep focused on the first 20 minutes and keep away from (thinking about) the result of the game and more about the way we need to play, because there were a lot of good things we did in the game from a technical standpoint.” The Jets were encouraged that their ability to stick to their game plan led to an important victory and snapped a slide that had seen them lose six of their past seven prior games. “That was probably our most complete 60 minutes, it was a good game from start to finish,” said Jets centre Bryan Little, who leads the team with eight goals. “It was night and day from the Chicago game. We had a good first period (against the Blackhawks) but as soon as we got down 3-1, the effort went down and everything went downhill from there.
