Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen was a one man wrecking crew against the Detroit Red Wings last night. In the Wings home opener, Lehtonen stopped 39 of 40 shots, and was actually 3.4 seconds away from getting a shutout. This would have been the Wings first shutout loss in their home opener since 1947.Damien Brunner recorded his first NHL goal off this beautiful pass from Pavel Datsyuk and the Red Wings fans started to taunt Lehtonen. Without missing a beat, Lehtonen grabs his water bottle, and points at the scoreboard before taking a drink. Always a subtle and perfect response to being taunted because what else could the Wings crowed possibly say to him after that?Mike Heika of the Dallas News asked Lehtonen how he felt about losing the shutout:He really did seem OK losing the shutout at the 19:56 mark of the third period, when Pavel Datsyuk made and unbelievable pass and Damien Brunner scored from the doorstep.“Obviously, it would have looked nice or pretty to have that shutout, but I think the win was more important,” he said. “To come in here and win in this building, that was more important.’’Dallas had a roster overhaul this past summer before the lockout and they have gotten off to a fast start. They look to be a team poised to make the playoffs and ready to wreak havoc on the NHL.[@GoldAndOrSmith]

Kari Lehtonen was just a few seconds away from picking up his first shutout of the 2013 season, against the Detroit Red Wings no less. It wasn’t in the cards for the Dallas Stars goalie, though, as Damien Brunner scored with 3.4 seconds left to ruin the shutout.
That’s a bummer, sure, but at least the Stars came away with a 2-1 win. Apparently Red Wings fans sitting near the...

Lehtonen was brilliant tonight (40 saves), only giving up 1 goal to Damien Brunner with 4 seconds left in the game.

One stat stands-out to me, the Wings are 0-15 on the pp over their first three games (0-4 tonight).

The longer that Jamie Benn goes unsigned in Dallas, the more the Stars are being inundated with a variety of inquiries about whether the team would consider trading his rights. That's just how it goes, as teams try to feel out what it would take to land the burgeoning first-line center and the Stars at least formulate backup plans in case someone blows them away with an offer...
It seems everybody has a Manti Te’o joke to crack these days. The art of Te’oing has also, begrudgingly, become a thing people do as well. The concept is simple, in that a guy poses with his invisible girlfriend and posts the picture of the fictitious couple on the Internet for all to have a good laugh about.
It’s one thing for regular Joes to do it, but what about when an...
The Dallas Stars beat the Red Wings 2-1 and then had to spend the night in Detroit due to an engine problem on the plane they were going to use.
Stars spokesman Greg Ramirez says the team was scheduled to fly back to Dallas on Wednesday afternoon and canceled practice. Ramirez says the team is safe and ''everyone is fine.''

Evans is the agent for Benn.
After yesterday's revelation that they were using their empty seats as a humor device, the Dallas Stars have now turned in a direction I was not expecting. They are now inventing players for their press releases!
Even children's books are incredulous.
No, Tasha Pym, we have never seen a Sneep.
Shame on you, Dallas Stars. Shame. On. You.

The Dallas Stars worked hard on opening weekend to manage a split of their back-to-back games against the Phoenix Coyotes and Minnesota Wild. Tonight, they are in action for the third time in four nights as they head to Motown to take on the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings got humiliated (6-0) by St. Louis in their opener on Saturday, but rebounded last night...
