Strangely beautiful. The Senators and Bruins were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation tonight, and with the OT period solving nothing, went to a shootout. Kaspars Daugavins was Ottawa’s fourth shooter, and he went to the well for his attempt. If Daugavins’ attempt looks oddly familiar, it’s only because it is. The 24-year-old pulled the same move while playing for the Binghamton Senators, only successfully, in a video that became the highest grossing AHL shootout video of all time (Ed. note: I can’t back that up). Unfortunately for Daugavins his second attempt at shootout glory failed miserably, and the Bruins would end up winning 3-2 after David Krejci scored on his turn following Daugavins miss. It’s hard to fault Daugavins for his missed attempt, seeing that he nailed it a just a couple of years ago, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that when you’re in a shootout with a division rival in a shortened season, with points being at a premium, maybe it’s best not to go to the well again and try the “toe end of the stick on the puck, spin-o-rama” shootout attempt. Pretty confident that coach Paul McLean and the rest of the Sens would agree. [The Score] The post Kaspars Daugavins probably wishes he could have a do-over on this shootout attempt appeared first on Last Angry Fan.
