According to the Twitter Account of Ben Kuzma on Saturday the Vancouver Canucks placed Keith Ballard (neck) on LTIR.
Ben goes on to say this move by the Vancouver front office frees up $4.2M in salary cap space to make a significant trade move Monday, should the Canucks be interested in making said move.

DETROIT -- When Vancouvers Alexandre Burrows scored his game-winning shootout goal Thursday night against the Detroit Red Wings, he celebrated by pretending to break his hockey stick across his knee.

Even through the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Dallas Stars, Canucks coach Alain Vigneault couldn’t stop laughing during part of Sunday’s game.
He was cracking up so badly that he had to cover his face with his lineup card. Apparently, Stars’ forward Vernon Fiddler did an impression of Kevin Bieksa’s angry face. Bieska plays for the Canucks.
