Phil Kessel's future in Toronto is expected to be secured on Tuesday.
TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that a contract extension between Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs should be completed Tuesday.
The deal is believed to be an eight-year deal worth approximately $8 million per season and is believed to include a limited no-trade clause.
Dreger stressed that while the deal is not actually completed or signed at present an announcement is expected Tuesday.
Talks are believed to have intensified this weekend between the two sides in hopes of getting an extension done before the puck drops on the 2013-14 season in Montreal Tuesday night.
As a result of the Kessel talks being close to completion Dreger reports that negotiations to extend the contract of captain Dion Phaneuf will soon become the top priority for the Maple Leafs.
