Buffalo interested in Briere?
We've talked about, and I'm going to bring it up again because I think there's a lot of different opinions going on about it.
Darcy Regier stated today that he has contacted Daniel Briere's agent. Now, that may not mean much at all, but it shows that the Sabres do have some interest in the former captain. So, they will talk to him.

Veteran scorer Daniel Briere didn’t want to leave Philadelphia. But he found a happy ending after his compliance buyout from the Flyers on the last two years of his eight-year, $52 million contract. He agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with the Montreal Canadiens. That is a nice payout for a 35-year-old forward who will also draw checks from Philadelphia for not playing there...
According to Jessica Rusnak and TSN 690 in Montreal, the Canadiens have signed Daniel Briere to a 2 year, $8 million contract.
NOTE: I'm not seeing this anywhere else, but they are discussing it as I type as being done. I guess we'll know tomorrow when signings become official.

The move is a highly questionable one considering where...

When Lecavalier was bought out by Tampa, initial speculation was that the Rangers would be one of the team's interested. That possibility went out the window when the Rangers decided to not buy out...

Flyers Acquire Newbury
The Flyers and New York Rangers made a minor trade yesterday. Philadelphia sent veteran AHL defenseman Danny Syvret to the New York organization in exchange for veteran forward Kris Newbury.
A power forward at the AHL level, where he has been a decent scorer as well as a player who drops the gloves, the 31-year-old Newbury's lone NHL role is as a...

After using a compliance buyout on Danny Briere, the Philadelphia Flyers were going to need a replacement to hold down the center spot on the second line.
Many expected it to be a in house choice, with both Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn competent enough to take the reins.
But Paul Holmgren had other ideas.
According to numerous reports from CSN’s Tim...
With free agency tomorrow, I went through the list of soon-to-be free agents and highlighted all of the former Sabres. Out of those highlighted, I wanted to figure out which ones have the best chance of returning to blue and gold. I've excluded Daniel Briere from the list.
