Eric Selleck was playing his first NHL game for the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night and I’m not sure if he will remember it or not.  Selleck was given 2 minutes for instigating and a 10 minute misconduct as well as a 5 minute fighting major for going after Kevin Westgarth and it turned out to be a huge mistake.  The Carolina Hurricanes forward buried Selleck with a few quick upper cuts and Selleck had to be helped off the ice.  I have to say that Selleck picked a horrible time to fight, with three minutes left in the game and a 3-0 win in the bag, why bother? Andre Deveaux of the San Antonio Rampage took a high stick to the face at 5:27 of the second period in Tuesday night’s game against the Texas Stars.  Unfortunately for him, things only got worse when he was down on the ice.  His teammate Nolan Yonkman fell on top of him and stepped on his face, opening a massive gash. Brandon Worley of SB Nation described the scene: Deveaux lay...

Panthers Rookie Eric Selleck’s NHL Career Line: 1 Game, KO’d Once, 1 Suspension

Poor NHL rookie Eric Selleck. You might remember earlier today when we told you about Selleck’s debut last night against Carolina. His line: 0 points, 17 PIM & 1 KO. The problem is that he was the one who got KO’d thanks to the punching power of Kevin Westgarth. And now there’s more punishment for Selleck. The NHL reviewed last night’s fight and found that Selleck left...

Two punches later and Selleck needed to find the game highlights...

Dan Spiegel: Something Is Up With Jovanovski

Quick hit here, but rumors are swirling that veteran Ed Jovanovski is likely out for the year with what has been a long-term knee injury. But the bigger rumors are if this lingering problem may lead to his retirement as well. Jovanovski, the first overall pick in franchise history for Florida back in 1994, has played in 1,167 NHL games with Florida, Vancouver, and Phoenix. ...

Worst +/- Rating

Brian Campbell of the Florida Panthers has the worst +/- rating in the NHL.  He has a -18 rating.  He is also the ice time player in the league this season.  He has played almost 25 more minutes than Ilya Kovalchuk, who is second in ice time in the league.  These two numbers go together when you consider that Florida is the last place team in the NHL with the worst +/- rating...
