Let The Games Begin

Florida Panthers head coach Peter DeBoer and his good friend, Carolina Hurricanes head coach Paul Maurice have agreed to play mostly youngsters in tonight’s pre season tilt.  Would have to agree that it’s a good idea, as we need to find out where these kittens stand.

Tomas Vokoun is not playing in this one as Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom are along to tend to the pipes.  The Panthers need to see if Markstrom is ready for NHL action and this will be a good test for him.  Also getting a good look will be Erik Gudbranson, Stever Bernier and Michael Grabner.

No Booth, no Little Stevie (who might be bruised up anyway from the Gudbranson smash in yesterday’s practice.  I have no idea if he is, just felt like saying that), and no Frolik, Higgins, or Dvorak.  Although veteran guys like Tyler Arnason and Mike Weaver will get to show their stuff.  Don’t get too excited.

Here’s a link to tonight’s roster. Thanks to the Sun-Sentinel’s Harvey Fialkov for doing that.

No radio, no T.V. and unfortunately due to corporate softball for me, no live blogging tonight either.

In other news, the Panthers sent the following players have been sent back to their junior clubs:

F Alain Berger (Oshawa – OHL), F Corey Durocher (Kingston – OHL), F John McFarland (Sudbury – OHL), D Alexander Petrovic (Red Deer – WHL) and F Garrett Wilson (Owen Sound – OHL). Thanks for reading.
