The Los Angeles Kings might have come up just short in defending the 2012 Stanley Cup championship, but the team is as loaded as ever. That is why they, not the Detroit Red Wings, are the deepest team in the NHL heading into the new season. When the Kings and Red Wings met in the Western Conference Finals, it was the ultimate matchup for fans. Although it only lasted 5 games, it clearly showed that these were the 2 best teams in the conference. Los Angeles finished with the #5 seed during the lockout shortened season, but with so few games to work with, they shouldn’t be overlooked. It all begins upfront for the Los Angeles Kings, and they have a variety of players to turn to. Anze Kopitar appears to be a star in the making, while Jeff Carter, Mike Richards and Dustin Brown have all proved just how valuable they can be throughout the years.
