Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan might be getting a call from the NHL Department of Player Safety following an incident Sunday. Late in the second period against the Edmonton Oilers, a scrum ensued when Edmonton’s Jesse Joensuu knocked defenseman Drew Doughty down to the ice for getting too close to Oilers goaltender, Ben Scrivens. Nolan immediately came to the defense of his teammate and grabbed Joensuu as referees skated over. But with three refs surrounding the two, Nolan sucker punched the Edmonton winger and continued to pound on him before finally getting pulled off of him. Nolan was dished a double-minor for his swings. Check out the play in the GIF and video below. GIF via SB Nation Filed under: Anna Fogel, NHL, Top Stories

NHL suspends Jordan Nolan for Sucker Punching Jesse Joensuu

This should have been more than a one-game suspension. This is ridiculous. There's no sense to this crap. You can't just punch an unsuspecting player like this. It's a violation of the hockey code. A one-game suspension for this barbaric act is absolute joke. Unacceptable! I don't care what the Oilers defenseman Jesse Jensuu did, if you want to fight him, challenge...
