The Los Angeles Kings placed defenseman Alec Martinez on injured reserve with an upper body injury on Monday.
The club also called up rookie Slava Voynov from Manchester of the American Hockey League.
Martinez, in his second year, was hurt in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild when he was checked into the boards by Warren Peters, who earned a five-minute major penalty for boarding.
Voynov was one of the Kings' final cuts of training camp. He has appeared in five games with the team this season filling in for the injured Drew Doughty, posting two goals and an assist.
