Kings Coach Darryl Sutter spent part of his post-practice media session on Tuesday talking about schedules, traveling and playoff logistics, spelling out the disadvantage for his team.
"That's all part of not being a home-ice team," he said.
The Kings-Blues series will start in St. Louis eventually. Sutter simply wants to know. And, as he said, then they can get in a "prairie schooner," and head over to St. Louis. The Western Conference semifinals meets "Little House on the Prairie."
Sutter also dismissed the statistic favoring visiting teams by a wide margin thus far in the 2012 playoffs.
"I know from the experience of it, the less travel you have you want to be in your own building," he said. "It still does have a psychological difference to the player.... You want to play the deciding game in your building, always."
The Kings, who clinched their first-round series Sunday in Vancouver, had the day off Monday and were on the ice Tuesday in El Segundo. Injured forward Kyle Clifford did some limited skating near the end of the main session but did not practice.
Dustin Penner and Dwight King swapped spots, Penner moving to the second line with Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, and King joining Trevor Lewis and Jarret Stoll. It's not a new look in the postseason, Sutter noted.
"We've got to continue to move around, right?" he said. "And we're lucky we've got guys who can play everywhere. Our left wing hasn't excelled five on five, so we're trying to find stuff to work. We did it in Vancouver."

Unsung contributions lifting Kings in playoffs
Darryl Sutter has been through the rodeo enough times to pinpoint the areas in which the Los Angeles Kings' second round series against the St. Louis Blues will be decided.
"Goaltenders, special teams, top players, unsung heroes and discipline," Sutter listed. "Write it down and don't forget it."
"It's true. It's out of the hockey bible...
Kings-Blues to be a clash of similar styles
Symmetry may not be achieved when the Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues meet, though it can come close.
The league's two sturdiest defensive teams who emerged from the first round having conceded eight goals in five games combined to allow exactly one goal in their final 125 minutes of head-to-head game action. St. Louis' 15 shutouts were the most by one team in 42 years...

Upset of Canucks a milestone for Lombardi
The process began in 2006, when the Kings hired Dean Lombardi as general manager and Lombardi began the process of overhauling the organization by building around a core of young players.
The job isn't done -- no team, short of the Stanley Cup champion, considers its season a full success -- but the Kings took a big step Sunday night when they beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1...
Video: Jarret Stoll sends Los Angeles Kings into second round
I am proud of the Los Angeles Kings this team won in fine style! Upsetting the Presidents' Trophy winning Vancouver Canucks in five games as an eighth seed in the Western Conference, advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons. Jarret Stoll is a popular guy in Los Angeles today.I think this is the perfect time to remind my...
All The Kings Men - Canucks: Game 5
The only thing more surprising than the Los Angeles Kings making it to the 2nd Round is having enough energy to record a brand-new episode of All The Kings Men right after the Los Angeles Kings make it to the 2nd Round. So myself, Podcaster General Jesse Cohen, The Mayor John Hoven and Matt from Life In Hockeywood took some time out from buying our Jarret Stoll jerseys online...
The Kings: The 8 Seed That Could
In any sport, it is very rare for an eight seed to take down the team with the best record in the league. Usually the regular season shows that there are three to five teams with a realistic chance to win the championship, with the other teams just there so the elite teams can beat up on them and advance to the conference finals in due time. Usually the eighth seed makes the playoffs...
LA Kings make long-awaited playoff breakthrough
(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By GREG BEACHAM AP Sports Wrier Jarret Stoll says he only had about 140 text messages waiting for him a few minutes after he scored the overtime goal that sent the Los Angeles Kings into the second round of the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.
If more of the Kings' long-suffering fans had his number, the veteran forward would be sifting...
