TEAMS: New York Rangers
In an interview with Jesse Connolly at the Hockey Journal, Chris Kreider discussed his highlight of the Rangers playoff run last year...
"I’d have to say the two overtime wins over the Capitals, with Marian Gaborik scoring the winner in triple overtime in Game 3 down in Washington and then Marc Staal scoring in the first overtime in Game 5 back home. It was pretty crazy. Games like that you’ll always remember."
...not a bad way to start your NHL career. Let's hope the second chapter of that career starts sooner rather that later.
...really excited to see him continue to develop this season with the Whale. No doubt he'll be a better player no matter what the outcome of the lockout because of his time with the Whale this year.
Kreider also discusses John Tortorella being a yeller and Henrik Lundqvist being the toughest goaltender he has faced among other topics.

Tempering the expectations for Chris Kreider
The hype machine started at the beginning of last season and, ahead of the upcoming campaign, was cranked up even further with the immediate impact Chris Kreider made as an untested rookie in the NHL playoffs last spring. Then came the lockout.

Nash nets shootout winner in second game with Davos
It was going to be tough for Rick Nash to repeat his performance in his 2012 Davos debut, where he scored a hat trick and added an assist in a 9-2 win. Nash didn’t score in regulation, being held to a -1 rating and seven shots on goal, but he did net the shootout winner. His shootout goal gave Davos a 3-2 win, and makes the club 2-0 since inking Nash and Joe Thornton.

Would Lundqvist benefit from extra rest or a season in Europe?
During the past few years, the trail of thought was that if the Rangers could find a way to get their All World goaltender extra rest, he would be better prepared for the grind of the playoffs. Last season saw the Rangers finally able to give Henrik Lundqvist extra rest (thanks to a healthy and reliable Martin Biron) and promptly the Rangers made the conference finals; their finest...

Here's the rundown of what they did:
..."They had dinner at Bagatelle...

Redden Can’t Play
from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,
At this point, Wade Redden has pretty much seen it all.
Redden is locked out just like 700-odd other NHLers and facing nary a paycheck until the labor impasse is resolved.
Except that, well, Redden hasn’t played in the NHL in 2½ years.
Talk about adding insult to injury. If it didn't hurt his pride enough to be turfed...
Connecticut announces training camp roster
Generally the AHL rosters get filled as the NHL rosters start cutting players. This year it’s different, and the Connecticut training camp is the only training camp we will see this month. As such, they have announced their training camp roster:
Goal (4): Bryan Hince, Jason Missiaen, Scott Stajcer, Cameron Talbot
Defense (12): Sean Collins, Steven Delisle, Kyle Haines, Colten Hayes...

Watching the Whales you don't know
CT Whale
The CT Whale announced their training camp roster Tuesday and it is much larger than expected but also because of the NHL lockout missing a few guys who might have been invited to tryout.
Coach Ken Germander and his staff will have an older more experienced roster this year but that is not a bad thing as those veterans will be able to help the younger prospects adapt...

A lockout is not what Dolan wanted
While many are quick to blame Gary Bettman for the third lockout under his regime, the blame lies equally with the owners as well. Over 50% of owners in the NHL barely break even or lose money, and they have no qualms with locking out the players. These owners lose less money with a lockout than they do while the season is in full swing.
James Dolan is not one of these owners.
