In his first game back since getting re-injured on March 26th, and only his 2nd game since March 17th, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang had one of the best hits of the year.  Letang drilled Tampa Bay Lightning forward Alex Killorn who went flying right into Martin St. Louis after he had just passed St. Louis the puck.  Letang’s momentum then carried him into the two fallen Lightning players and he hit them again for good measure.  Needless to say, naming this the “Subway Sandwich of the Game” is the best name I’ve heard in a while.  Well done, Root Sports.  The Penguins went on to win the game 6-3 and Letang added an assist in the victory. No Jokin: Penguins’ Jussi for Real

When Penguins GM Ray Shero acquired veteran Jussi Jokinen from Carolina at the trade deadline for a conditional draft pick it almost seemed like an afterthought. After all, Shero had spent the previous week snatching up three of the hottest commodities on the market—Jarome Iginla, Brenden Morrow, and Douglas Murray. But make no mistake—Jokinen’s the real deal. A quick, versatile...

There is an awesome crowd this afternoon at the NCAA 2013 Frozen Fest here at the Consol Energy Center home of the Pittsburgh Penguins.  While we are not sure who the genius is that scheduled the out of town Penguins’ games this weekend at the same time as the tournament, we are all very happy to own DVR’s.  Aside from PenguinPoop’s Champ Kind having to tell the MC that he...

Pittsburgh Penguins rink managers have Notre Dame-esque motto

The rink managers at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Console Energy Center seem to have a sense of humor.  They copied the iconic Notre Dame motto “Play Like A Champion Today” and made their own.  When you Zamboni the ice, it’s commonly known as “flooding” the ice, hence the motto. [@A_Merrit] [ESPN.com]

Penguins-Panthers Preview

While they're still missing several key players, the Pittsburgh Penguins have had little trouble generating offense the last two games as they continue their push for the best record in the Eastern Conference. That trend could continue Saturday night as they visit a last-place Florida Panthers team that's allowed the most goals in the conference by far. Seeking their fourth...

GIF: Douglas Murray wants to dance.

Fights are almost pointless anymore. But sometimes they still have some luster. Case and point Douglas Murray vs B.J Crombeen. Crombeen started trolling, and Murray was like " let's dance."   Couldn't help but get excited when they showed it was Murray. The fight wasn't great, but Murray got few good licks in, also probably hurt his hand:

QUICK CAP: Pens destroy Bolts 6-2.

This game was close. Then it wasn't. Jussi Jokinen scored twice including this beauty: Jussi with points in three straight games. Kunitz, Malkin, Dupes, and.... Tanner Glass scored. Three straight wins all of sudden.

Game 42: Penguins-Panthers Preview

The Pittsburgh Penguins are good. The Florida Panthers are bad. I could end this preview now and it would probably be sufficient to describe what is going to happen tonight. The brilliant folks who write the schedule for the NHL should probably stop giving Florida home games by about mid-season at this point. There will…
