Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall has begun preliminary talks with the club on a new contract.Kronwall's agent, J.P. Barry, has met with Red Wings general manager Ken Holland to discuss a deal that would allow the hard-hitting blueliner to remain in the Motor City.Kronwall, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, has said he would like to stay with the Wings.The 30-year-old Sweden native had 11 goals and 26 assists in 77 games last season. He added 113 hits and 129 blocked shots.
