While the return of the Winnipeg Jets is something of a story tonight, the one most Hawks fans are interested in would be Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien returning to Chicago for the first time since their departure. Obviously, any member of the 2010 Cup team is going to get a hero's welcome, and well they should. Most Hawks fans will remember their names for their whole lives. I know I will. Maybe they'll both start. If not, there will be a huge roar when they each hit the ice for the first time, which is always a moment to appreciate. Both have found success in Atlanta and will hope to repeat it in Manitoba. Ladd more so than Buff, but not by a huge margin. Ladd dwarfed his career high in points last year and goals, with 59 and 29 respectively. This was a result of playing top line minutes and a host of power play minutes for the first time in his career. College Goalie Misses Class to Fill In at Winnipeg Jets Practice

Where were you during class today, Joe? Oh, you were playing goalie for the Winnipeg Jets? I guess that's a reasonable excuse. Jets goaltender Chris Mason missed practice on Tuesday to be with his wife, who is expected to give birth soon. So, short a goaltender, the team turned to Joe Caligiuri, who plays for the nearby University of Manitoba Bisons. Caligiuri's sister is...

Jets Return to Chicago

The Winnipeg Jets, with former Hawks Cup hoisters, Ladd and Byfuglien, came to the United Center (the only time these two teams will play, regular season, this year) and fell 4 - 3.  Before we get into the actual play, here’s a couple of side notes. Sean O’Donnell turned 40 years old, one of only four players currently in the NHL. He became the oldest Hawk skater to wear the...

Return of the Winnipeg Jets met with unprecedented fanfare

BY JAKE THIELEN Canadian Thanksgiving might not have been until Monday, but last weekend thousands of hockey-loving Canadians got to give thanks a little early. In May, the NHL announced that the Atlanta Thrashers had been sold to a group that had planned to move the team to Winnipeg...

The Anaheim Ducks have signed right wing Troy Bodie to a one-year contract. Bodie was expected to report to the Ducks' AHL affiliate in Syracuse on Wednesday. After making his NHL debut with the Ducks in January 2009, Bodie began last season with Anaheim, but was claimed on waivers by Carolina on Nov.

Blackhawks Soar Over Jets

Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien had not been back in Chicago since they helped lead the Blackhawks to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. Yet here they were, skating on familiar ice, but for the opposing team as part of the new Winnipeg Jets. The visiting team got right down to business in the first, with center Jim Slater scoring a pair of goals just 3 minutes apart. If the first half...
