In a move that doesn’t come as much of a surprise, 24 year old defenseman Matt Lashoff was waived today, and will be assigned to the Marlies as long as he clears waivers. Lashoff played in just two preseason games after suffering a shoulder injury, but was expected to be with the Marlies this year due to the overload of NHL defensemen already on the Leafs.
From the look of it, that means everyone’s favorite $3.5 million man, Jeff Finger, will start the season on the Leafs’ roster, along with 7 other defensemen. Fun fact: that means $27.775 million dollars is currently tied up on the Toronto blueline.
