We've heard a lot about concussions over the past year, but it's not often that you hear from the wives of the players suffering from them. That's what makes this video, in which Chris Pronger's wife Lauren opens up about her husband's slow recovery, so compelling. Heartbreaking, too. While the Philadelphia Flyers no doubt miss a healthy Chris Pronger, it would appear the Pronger family does as well. From CSN Philly: As someone who's never suffered a concussion, I can't say what would be tougher: being alone during such a difficult period, or being surrounded by friends and family that don't quite understand and can't help but feel anxious. It seems as though, with the headaches and the sensitivity to noise and light, being alone would be preferable at times. But, as the video indicates, it's not always an option when you have a family. This quote from Mrs. Pronger really stood out to me: "[The kids] are confused all the time. 'Dad...

The Famous Claude Giroux Sign Girl Speaks

Last night, a girl in the front row held a sign that got Claude Giroux's attention. The video of her flipping out when G came over to the glass made its way around the internet. Her name? Brandi Johnson. Brandi let us know that she was a big fan of the site and that she reads it everyday. To that, we said thank you. In addition, she answered a few questions for us about her encounter...

Jaromir Jagr admitted that he's enjoyed his time in the City of Brotherly Love - so much so that he would welcome a return to the Philadelphia Flyers next season. "I don't think it's going to be a problem - because, from my side, I'm happy," the 39-year-old Jagr said. "I like this team too much. I don't want to go anywhere." Coach Peter Laviolette...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: 1/18/12

In baseball terms, the Philadelphia Flyers had a hanging curveball of a matchup last night against a struggling Minnesota Wild team that was playing without its best forward and its number one goalie. Philly came in with plenty of motivation to get their pre-All Star Break mini-homestand (3 of 4 games) off to a strong start. To their credit, the Flyers blasted that hanging curve...

Peter Laviolette announced earlier today that Sergei Bobrovsky will be the starting goaltender for tonight's matchup against the New York Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center. The move didn't come as a surprise to many since Bobrovsky has had tremendous success against the Islanders over the past two seasons. In his career, Bobrovsky is 7-0 with a 1.86 goals against average...

Flyers-Devils Preview

The Philadelphia Flyers are frustrated, but they're trying to remain positive. Some production from Claude Giroux could go a long way in assuring a lift in morale. Giroux attempts to end his longest goal drought of the season when the visiting Flyers try to rebound from a disappointing loss Saturday against the New Jersey Devils. Philadelphia (27-14-4) is in the midst of a...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: 1/20/12

The Flyers have been outplayed in all three of their games against the New York Islanders this season. Last night, it finally caught up with the Flyers in a miserable 4-1 loss to a team they had beaten 23 of the last 24 meetings. Sergei Bobrovsky single-handedly kept Philly in the game for two-plus periods until the Islanders put it out of reach on Mark Streit's power play...
