Found October 02, 2013 on Fightin For Philly:
The energy and emotions of opening night were not enough for the Flyers on Wednesday as they lost 3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.  The Flyers controlled the action for much of the game, as they out hit, out shot, and were  the aggressors most of the night.  Brayden Schenn scored the season’s first goal in the final seconds of the first period off a nice pass from Vincent Lecavalier.  For Schenn it was his 4th goal in 8 career games vs Toronto. Phil Kessel tied the game for the Leafs in the 2nd period.  The Flyers had their chances, including a penalty shot by Wayne Simmonds.  Jonathan Bernier made saves when needed and was a big reason the Flyers went 1 for 7 on the power play.  The Leafs took advantage of poor coverage by Flyer defenders to score the winning goal early in the 3rd.  Dave Holland took a pass from behind the net and scored his first of two goals in the period. Philadelphia continued to apply pressure for the rest of the game but was unable to put the puck past Bernier.  Toronto sealed the victory with a late power play goal. The Flyers return to action Saturday night in Montreal against Danny Briere and the Canadiens in search of victory number one.

Flyers loan 19-year-old Laughton back to junior

For Scott Laughton there won’t be a nine-game looksee after all – at least not now. The Flyers decided Thursday to loan Laughton back to his junior team the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. Laughton 19 made the team out of training camp for a second consecutive season but unlike last season when he played five games in the NHL before going back to juniors he was a healthy scratch...

Saving Steve Mason

“No, it never does. I mean, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but… but it might work for us.” – Dr. Tobias Funke I’ve noticed a curious thing throughout the preseason and start of the regular season: people are going out of their way to defend Steve Mason. What is it about Steve Mason that elicits this reaction? He has one excellent year under...

Ilya Bryzgalov joining ECHL Las Vegas on training camp tryout

Not only is former Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov heading to the ECHL to play with the Las Vegas Wranglers he's doing so on a professional tryout.
