The NHL's new sheriff has laid down yet another suspension, hitting Toronto Maple Leafs forward Clarke MacArthur with a three-game ban for a dangerous hit on Detroit's Justin Abdelkader on Friday night.League disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan made the ruling Saturday, suspending MacArthur for one preseason game and the first two games of the regular season. MacArthur will forfeit more than $35,000 in salary as a result of the punishment.MacArthur made contact with Abdelkader's head late in the third period of the Maple Leafs' 4-3 overtime win over the Red Wings. He apologized afterward, but went on to suggest that Abdelkader may have been trying to draw a penalty on the play.MacArthur is coming off a career season in Toronto, recording 21 goals and 41 assists in 82 games.
