The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenseman Korbinian Holzer to a two-year contract extension.
The deal Tuesday keeps Holzer under contract with the NHL club through 2014-15 season. Financial details weren't immediately available.
The 25-year-old Holzer has appeared in 16 games with Toronto this season. He has two goals, 19 penalty minutes and is tied for third on the team in blocked shots.
Holzer is from Munich and has represented Germany internationally, including the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Toronto selected Holzer in the fourth round of the 2006 NHL entry draft.

Welcome to the NHL, David Dziurzynski. The Senators rookie dropped the gloves for the first time in his NHL career Wednesday night, but he picked the wrong man to go up against. Dziurzynski didn’t stand a chance against Maple Leafs enforcer Frazer McLaren, who dropped the 23-year-old to the ice with a series of hard rights. The Senators’ Twitter account reported that the forward suffered...
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Frazer McLaren knocked out Ottawa Senators forward Dave Dziurzynski during a fight in the first minute of Wednesday night's game at the Air Canada Centre.
The fight lasted under 20 seconds, with McLaren dropping Dziurzynski and knocking him out of the game just three seconds into his first shift. The Senators later announced that Dziurzynski had...
Frazer McLaren needed eight stitches to close the cut on his chin from a fight, another four for a gash on his cheek carved open by a stick later in the game.
Still, it was McLaren who delivered the most damaging blow of the night.
Phil Kessel had a goal and two assists to help the Toronto Maple Leafs hold off the Ottawa Senators 5-4 on Wednesday in a game highlighted by a knockout...

Dave Nonis could have a busy few months ahead. And his decisions could impact the Leafs now and moving forward.
Nonis traded a 4th liner in Mike Brown to Edmonton and Matt Frattin is coming off a knee injury.
An issue that promises to be interesting to watch will be finding a spot for Joffrey...
NYR sign UFA OA F Josh Nicholls, 20, of Saskatoon Blades. 41 goals and 73 points in 65 GP this season. Originally drafted by TOR in 2010.

McKenzie adds that the 20-year old Nicholls, who was a 2010, 7th round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, signed a standard three-year entry level deal, which has an annual cap hit of...
I'm still attempting to recover from the announcement this morning that the Oilers dealt a 4th (or perhaps a 3rd round pick instead) to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Mike Brown. It's not that Brown's a bad chap. He plays hard every game; he hits and he fights. He's a decent 4th line forward and he'll be popular with fans in Edmonton.
The problem with the deal...
Four games on the schedule tonight - NJD at TOR; TBL at PIT; ANA at PHX and NSH at LAK. For me the games to watch are in Toronto and Los Angeles.
This is a huge week for the Maple Leafs as they face New Jersey, Ottawa, Boston and Pittsburgh. Not only do they have the opportunity to create some separation between them and the best-of-the-rest and continue to solidify themselves...
Dave Dziurzynski only has nine games of NHL experience with the Ottawa Senators this season, and this might be one of those nine that he'd like to forget -- if he can remember it to begin with. The rookie made the mistake of going toe-to-toe with Toronto Maple Leafs tough guy Frazer McLaren, just 26 seconds into the game. It was a quick fight with a scary ending for Dziurzynski...
Phil Kessel had a goal and two assists to help the Toronto Maple Leafs hold off the Ottawa Senators 5-4 on Wednesday night in the latest installment of the Battle of Ontario.
Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk each had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who built leads of 3-0 and 5-2 before Ottawa scored twice in the final 8 minutes.
Toronto moved two points ahead of the...
The Toronto Maple Leafs have extended their surge as their offense has continued to improve. The opposite has been true for the Ottawa Senators, who have seen the goals continue to dry up during a three-game losing streak.
The Maple Leafs go for their third straight win overall and second in as many home games against the Senators this season Wednesday night.

I would like to continue my rant about how NHL players are some of the toughest folks in the sporting world, and the below video will speak for me. Check out how Frazer McLaren left David Dziurzynski not moving on the ice following their scrap during the beginning of the Senators and Maple Leafs game on Wednesday night. Dziurzynski left the game with an obvious concussion.
The Maple Leafs will need to put forth a better effort against the division and provincial rival Ottawa Senators than they have put forth in their first two outings this season.
Toronto was fortunate in the previous contest at the ACC in mid-February, as they were outplayed by the injury riddled Sens throughout most of the game, but earned a 3-0 victory mostly on the strength...
