Vinny Lecavalier saw seven coaches in his 14 seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Each coached his own way whether it was an offensive style defensive style or some hybrid of the two. For the first time in his career at age 33 the center was a free agent this summer when the Lightning bought out his contract. It was partially Peter Laviolette’s fast-paced intense system that attracted him to sign with the Flyers. Now that Laviolette is gone and Craig Berube is in charge does Lecavalier still feel he made the right decision to come to Philadelphia? “Of course” he said with a laugh after practice Thursday. Berube’s new system places an emphasis on defense. Forwards now have clear assignments in their own zone giving defenders an outlet to break out. It’s a little different from Laviolette’s quick-up-the-ice style. “I still think it’s fast-paced” Lecavalier said. “If you look at our practices the last two days they’re really high tempo.
