After the Nashville Predators posted its 500th franchise win on Friday night, another milestone was reached Saturday in the Predators 5-4 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Center David Legwand picked up his 500th career NHL point.

The Predators first ever draft pick assisted on two goals to become the first player in franchise history to post 500 career points with 187 goals and 313 assists.

Legwand assisted on Nashville’s third and fourth goals on Saturday, both in the third period, to erase a four-goal deficit. With the game tied at 4-4, Brent Seabrook scored for the Blackhawks, giving Chicago the lead that they would not relinquish.

After the Predators 5-4 loss to the Blackhawks, Legwand downplayed the accomplishment when asked whether it was frustrating to get his 500th point while losing the contest. Legwand decided to focus on the upcoming schedule.

“You want to win every game. It didn’t happen tonight so we need to regroup and be ready for Tuesday.  Hopefully we can get the 501st win. That is our big thing right now, get to that 100-point barrier and move on from there.”

Legwand’s teammates were more forthcoming about the milestone.

“It is a great accomplishment for this franchise and for David and I can just congratulate him,” Martin Erat said after the game.

“That is an amazing feat, and all with one team. He has been with this franchise since day one. It is great to see that and it is great for him. I just wish we could have pulled out the win,” defenseman Kevin Klein added.

Head Coach Barry Trotz also weighed in on the accomplishment.

“That’s great. He has been here as long as I have, almost. He’s been a point producer for us and a big part of our success over the years. I’m really happy for David,” he said.
