from Mike Harrington of Sabres Edge, Ville Leino is out several weeks with a lower body injury suffered last night against Ottawa. Leino played 14:49 in the game but took only one shift in the final 9:25 of play, a 56-second run that ended with 1:01 left.
So it’s pretty clear he had some sort of knee or foot problem he was dealing with. (Just guessing here but players often skate with a broken bone in their foot that’s set in their boot until they take the skate off and the injury is discovered).
Leino has three goals and seven assists thus far, a huge disappointment after signing his six-year, $27 million contract that currently ranks as one of the NHL’s biggest boondoggles of last summer.

Buffalo Sabres forward Ville Leino is out indefinitely after sustaining what the team is calling a lower body injury.
Coach Lindy Ruff says Leino will be out ''for weeks'' after the player was absent from practice on Wednesday, a day after being hurt in a 3-2 overtime loss to Ottawa.
It's the latest blow to an injury-riddled team that hasn't had a healthy...
In the beginning part of February, Heather B. and I decided to do a Sabres podcast together. Alright, it was mostly me begging her to talk to me, but she finally gave in. Anyway, the day we did our first podcast came right after Tom Golisano announced he was selling the team. At the time, the Sabres were still on the outside looking into the playoffs and yes, they made some moves...
Buffalo, NY - When will this team play a full sixty minutes? In a game in which Buffalo once again had countless chances to pull away, they once again managed to blow a late lead and lose at home, falling 3-2 to the Ottawa Senators in overtime.
Jared Cowen pinched in from the blue line and was left wide open in front of the Buffalo net and was able to just squeak the puck past Ryan...
Last night the Ottawa Senators beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2. Senator player Colin Greening was going for the puck when Sabres goalie Ryan Miller got in the way which ended in Miller getting checked into the net. His teammate Christian Ehrhoff didn't like that to much and immediately started throwing haymakers at Greening. Nobody seemed to land and good bombs, but it looked...

All seven healthy Sabres D skated this morning. They all left the ice together.
Mike Weber will play. Brayden McNabb will play.
Marc Andre Gragnani appears to be the odd man out.
Lindy Ruff told Howard Simon this morning that it matters not the age of a player. He's handed out playing time based on one criteria:
Does the player have the ability to help the team...
Buffalo Sabres forward Ville Leino is expected to miss several weeks with a lower body injury, according to head coach Lindy Ruff.
The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Kevin Sundher to a rookie, three-year, entry-level contract. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 184 pounds, Sundher was selected by Buffalo in the third round -- 75th overall -- in the 2010 draft. He currently has 21 goals and 31 assists in 32 games with Victoria, British Columbia, of the Western Hockey League.
I don't profess to know what thoughts are occupying Lindy Ruff's head, however, I'm convinced that the coach has a blue line shakeup in mind. Lindy has a big decision to make this morning. He has seven healthy D: Regehr, Ehrhoff, Leopold, McNabb, Sekera, Gragnani, and Weber.
Only six D can play tonight. Someone has to sit. That, or, Ruff can send McNasty back to Rochester...
The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Kevin Sundher to a three-year entry-level contract Thursday.
6 wins out of 18 home games this season?
Ryan Miller was brilliant in the OT loss to Ottawa. Miller made a season-best 41 saves, who dropped to 2-5-3 in their last 10 home games.
Don't look now, but here come the Toronto Maple Leafs and their obnoxious fans.

After being dominated by the Buffalo Sabres since the 2004-05 lockout, the Toronto Maple Leafs finally picked up some wins against their Northeast Division rivals last season.
Toronto looks to earn four straight victories over the Sabres for the first time in nearly 40 years Friday night in the teams' first meeting of 2011-12.

To say that the Ottawa Senators(3-4-3) and the Buffalo Sabres(3-5-2) have struggled in their last ten games is a bit of an understatement, but at least one of the two Northeast division rivals will be able to right the ship after a Tuesday night affair at First Niagara Center.
The two teams have met twice this season, with...
