The Tampa Bay Lightning were looking for a potential full-time starter in net during the 2012 offseason. Last June, general manager Steve Yzerman may have gotten his man when he made a trade for goalie Anders Lindback. And now that the NHL lockout is over, Lindback is welcoming the opportunity to compete for the starting role.  “For me it’s a great chance and opportunity to be able to fight for the starting role against Mathieu (Garon),” Lindback told reporters on Tuesday. “We have a great team, good offense and good defensemen. I’m excited to get going.” Lindback was part of Finland’s Ilves Tampere in Tampere during the lockout. He averaged 2.33 goals against with a .930 save percentage. Those numbers will add to his case of becoming the Lightning’s starter. But the young goaltender realizes it is important to be on the same page as a team to have any success. “You have to work with the ‘D-Men’ and all the guys out there. It’s a process to learn and develop how we play here. It’s a new team, it’s a different system and everything but you just have to try to make it work.” The post Lightining’s Lindback excited to compete for starting role appeared first on The Bay Cave.
