The Bay Cave:
The Lightning were outshot 30-27 by the Philadelphia Flyers but their aggressiveness proved to be too much to matchup with. Goalie Anders Lindback got the start in net for the Bolts and stopped 28 of 30 shots to help Tampa Bay win 4-2. Steven Stamkos contributed big Monday night. Stamkos got his 200th goal, albeit an empty net, to make him the third fastest to reach that mark among active players (23 years old). Tampa Bay now moves within five points of the division leader and the final spot for the playoffs. The post Lightning all over the Flyers in win appeared first on The Bay Cave.
BEST OF MAXIM
Damian Cristodero, a Tampa Bay Lightning beat writer with whom I am familiar and respect, has initiated speculation on Martin St. Louis' future with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Though he admits there is no indication that either he or the Lightning have taken any steps towards moving him, it's a discussion that likely will happen. The Lightning are not in the playoff picture...
So this is pure speculation and makes sense only Martin St. Louis, with a no-move clause in his contract, determines leaving gives him the best chance to again play for a winner before he retires. Consider these circumstances: When St. Louis in July 2010 signed a four-year, $22.5 million contract extension, he did so with the notion the organization, under new ownership and management...
This Philadelphia Flyers fan decided to go hard on St. Patty's Day, and now he will forever be known as the "I love balls" guy.
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that Ryan Malone is out indefinitely and listed defensemen Victor Hedman as day-to-day. Both were hurt in Monday night’s win against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Malone missed 13 games this season and just came off of injured reserve under two weeks ago. He suffered a shoulder injury after the Flyers’ Zac Rinaldo drove into his left shoulder...
NHLTags: Kyle FlanaganSt. Lawrence University SaintsEvery March begins another round of collegiate, overage CHL and overseas player signings in the NHL. Brandon Alderson was the first forward to sign a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers, and according to TSN‘s Bob McKenzie, Kyle Flanagan of St. Lawrence University will be the second.
In yet another “must win” situation the Flyers will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in hopes of going into a six day break in the schedule on a high note. The Flyers are coming off of a rare shootout win over the Devils on Friday, 0-7 all-time against New Jersey in shootout before Friday’s [...]
According to Finnish website Kavela.fl, Kärpät, a team in the SM-Liga, will likely sign Toronto Marlies goaltender Jussi Rynnas, replacing former Philadelphia Flyers goalie Johan Backland who is expected to leave at the end of the season. As a younger player, Rynnäs was never considered a prime talent and was, for example, never drafted in the [...]
The Tampa Bay Lightning needed a win. The Tampa Bay Lightning won. In another incredibly strong performance, the Bolts came out soaring against the Philadelphia Flyers. With goals from likely and unlikely sources combined with yet another solid performance from Anders Lindback, the Bolts managed to leap-frog the Flyers in the Eastern Conference standings. While the road to the...
In the final game before a five day lay-off the Flyers went into Tampa Bay in yet another “must-win” situation and lost, 4-2. The Flyers came out swinging early, finishing checks and pushing the pace, earning several scoring chances- their best on a fore-check turnover forced by Max Talbot, getting the puck back to [...]
