The Lightning began their game Saturday strong but were unable to play with the same intensity for two more periods. As a result, they fell to the Boston Bruins by a score of 3-2. Tampa Bay jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period when Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn scored on two power plays. But three unanswered goals by the Bruins were too much for the Lightning to overcome in the second and third periods. The game winner came via the stick of Brad Marchand after a Stamkos shot during a Lightning three on two break turned into a two on one for the Bruins. Marchand’s shot beat Mathieu Garon glove side with under three minutes left in regulation. The Bolts now sit four points behind division leading Carolina as they near the halfway point of the season.
