NEW YORK (AP) -- Carl Hagelin had two goals and an assist, and Henrik Lundqvist made 19 saves in the New York Rangers' 5-1 victory over Tampa Bay that extended the Lightning's losing streak to four games Sunday night. Lundqvist was sharp throughout and was helped by some early offense. Hagelin scored his first goal just 31 seconds in and then made it 3-0 in the second period. Ryan Callahan added a breakaway goal with 4:47 left in the first, and Arron Asham and Rick Nash scored in the third for the Rangers (6-5), who have won four of six. On the flipside, the Lightning -- who entered with an NHL-best 42 goals this season -- have netted only six during their skid. Tampa Bay (6-5) might have been a bit weary following a long bus ride from Boston on Saturday after its game against the Bruins was postponed by the big Northeast snowstorm. Vinny Lecavalier scored a second-period goal for the Lightning, who changed goalies after New York took a 3-0 lead on Hagelin's second go...

Lundqvist Thinks He's Been Just OK This Season

Rangers deal Lightning 4th straight loss

Carl Hagelin had two goals and an assist, and Henrik Lundqvist made 19 saves Sunday night in the New York Rangers' 5-1 victory over Tampa Bay that extended the Lightning's losing streak to four games. Lightning go winless during road trip

The Lightning capped off their road trip with a 5-1 loss against the New York Rangers.  Tampa Bay was virtually eliminated from competing against New York just :30 seconds into the game when Carl Hagelin redirected a shot in net to beat Mathieu Garon. Nearly 15 minutes later, Ryan Callahan put the Rangers up 2-0 in the first period with his wrist shot. After Hagelin scored his second...

Rangers dominate Lightning: The goal breakdown

The Rangers had plenty to celebrate tonight. The Rangers rode an offensively strong first period and turned it into a pretty dominant 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Aside from a somewhat defensively suspect first period (which gave Lundqvist some nice practice time…) and a brain fart on the Lightning goal, this was as near to a complete game as you’ll get. The Rangers...

McDonagh Shows Why You Don't Mess With Lundqvist

There was a lot to be excited about after last night's 5-1 victory of the Lightning. Carl Hagelin's two goals, the fourth line's outstanding play and of course Henrik Lundqvist. But for me, the best part of the night was watching Ryan McDonagh do this to Alexander Killorn when the Lightning forward thought he could poke at Lundqvist after the whistle... ...now...

Rick Nash shows off some amazing moves en route to Carl Hagelin’s goal

This is the type of play that made the New York Rangers want Rick Nash so badly.  He singlehandedly made this goal possible with his display of sheer athleticism and awesome hands.  All Carl Hagelin had to do was put the puck in the empty net with all of the Boston Bruins defenseman pre-occupied with Nash.  If the Rangers can get their act together in time for the playoffs, they...

Rick Nash’s Brilliant Move Sets Up Carl Hagelin for Rangers’ First Goal (Video)

This is what the Rangers had in mind when they acquired Rick Nash in the offseason. The All-Star forward weaved his way through three Bruins defenders, setting up a wide-open net for teammate Carl Hagelin to deposit the first goal of Tuesday night’s game. Check out Nash’s nifty moves in the video above.

Could Miller just be a spark?

Will Miller be back in another jersey this season or not? JT Miller has been a pleasant surprise in his brief stay with the Rangers this season. His call up has coincided with (perhaps even caused) the re-emergence of the Rangers much anticipated offensive depth, and has caused players such as Brian Boyle to find themselves in the press box or with less prominent roles. Whether we...

Big on Even Strength

This is the perfect way to describe tonight's New York Rangers' win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. All goals were even strength as the Blueshirts got even two goals from Carl Hagelin (two goals and one assist) a goal from team captain Ryan Callahan, a goal by fourth liner Arron Asham (his first as a Ranger) and power forward Rick Nash (one goal and one assist) to lead the...

Keys to the Game Vs. Rangers

The Bruins are coming off of a win over the Buffalo Sabres. Goliath beat David the second time. Now the Bruins have to go up against the rangers for the third time already this season. The Rangers are also coming off of a win against a mediocre team; the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Rangers so far this season are a mediocre 6-5 and are 8th in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins are second...

Three in a Row

That is what the New York Rangers will be looking for tonight in terms of wins when they take on the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. This will be the final regular season game this year between these two teams. The series is currently split and one game apiece with tonight being the grudge match. The Blueshirts are coming off two games in which they have had no trouble finding the...

Trying to Build Consistency

That is something the New York Rangers will look to do tonight when they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. On Thursday night against the New York Islanders at Madison Square Garden, the Blueshirts skated away with a 4-1 victory. The team got terrific performances out of J.T. Miller, Chris Kreider, Ryan McDonagh and Henrik Lundqvist and did everything else they needed to do to win...
