In somewhat of a surprising move, the Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Cory Conacher and a fourth-round pick to the Ottawa Senators for goalie Ben Bishop.  Bishop is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason. He carried an 8-5-1 record with a 2.45 goals against average and a .922 save percentage for the Senators this season. Conacher, who was growing into a fan favorite in Tampa Bay, has nine goals, 15 assists, and 24 points with the Lightning this season. It has been widely speculated that the Lightning continue to be concerned about their goaltending this season even after last season’s acquisition of Anders Lindback. What may have made this move become reality is the fact that the Bolts remain optimistic in making the playoffs with 13 games left in the season. Cedrick Desjardins is expected to be sent back down to Syracuse which will leave the Lightning with Mathieu Garon and now Bishop on a potential ride into the playoffs.
