An MRI on the foot of Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier revealed only a bone bruise, and he is listed as day-to-day as of Sunday. Lecavalier, 32, has four goals and seven assists in eight games this season for Tampa Bay. The Lightning's next game is against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Tuesday, and Tampa Bay plays the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

Victor Hedman On His Way to “Elite Defenseman” Status

Victor Hedman has been one of the best defenseman so far in the 2013 NHL season. Image Credit: Associated Press Two years ago, after his entry-level contract was set to expire, the Tampa Bay Lightning rewarded, no, gave Victor Hedman a five-year, $20M contract extension. At the time, Hedman hadn’t done much to deserve such money, but the Lightning had faith in the man they’d...

Lightning at Flyers game preview

Game time: 7:30 p.m. ETTV: NBC Sports The Tampa Bay Lightning may be coming off their worst offensive performance of the season by their standards, but Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis are major reasons they're the highest scoring team in the NHL. Just over a week ago, the Philadelphia Flyers fell victim to that potent offense yet again. Stamkos and St. Louis look to continue...

Worst Player So Far This Season

One thing I have found interesting is to try to identify the worst regular in the NHL in a season. It is interesting to see what kind of player continues to be given playing time despite failing with it. So far this season I think our inept leader has been Brian Lee of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lee is a big hard working defenceman who hits and blocks shots. He is a former first...

Rangers at Lightning game preview

Game time: 7 p.m. ET TV: Sun Sports With an explosive offense leading the way, the Tampa Bay Lightning are off to one of the NHL's most impressive starts. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers are trying to breathe life into what looks like one of the league's worst offenses. The Lightning can notch a six-game winning streak for the first time in two seasons on Saturday night...

Lightning Won’t Be Pushed Around This Year

from Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune, At times last season, the Lightning was pushed around by bigger teams willing to use their size advantage to their advantage. But with recent additions of defensemen Keith Aulie, Brian Lee and Sami Salo as well as Benoit Pouliot, Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Crombeen, Tampa Bay is a bigger team this year. And they want everybody to...

Rangers end the Lightning streak with 3-2 victory

The Bolts struggled offensively and were unable to capitalize on a couple two on one breaks resulting in their first loss in six games. New York’s goalie Martin Biron stopped 30 of 32 Lightning shots, 15 of those shots coming in the third period. The only one able to beat him twice was Steven Stamkos. With a 1-1 tie heading into the third period, Rangers’ Rick Nash scored just...

Lightning-Flyers Preview

Stamkos nets 2, Lightning fall to Rangers

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Rick Nash scored a go-ahead goal early in the third period and the New York Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Saturday night. The Rangers took a 2-1 lead on Nash's second goal of the season, coming at 3:04 of the third period. He skated in from the right wing boards, eluded Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman and jammed the puck past goalie Mathieu...

Michael Stuart: Game 8 Preview: Lightning vs. Rangers

If you looked at the Tampa Bay Lightning’s schedule for this five game home stand, it became abundantly clear that there was one, and only one, measuring stick game. The New York Rangers are in town and, unlike the Bolts’ previous opponents, they are rested, prepared and ready to end this dandy little Lightning win streak. While the Rangers’ record of 3-4-0 may...

Rangers 3, Lightning 2

TAMPA – It took a back-up goaltender, of all things, to finally slow down the Tampa Bay Lightning. Martin Biron made 30 saves behind a stout New York Rangers defense on Saturday and held on for a 3-2 win that broke the Tampa Bay Lightning’s five-game win streak and sent them to their first loss in five home games. Scoring was minimal -- partly because just three penalties...

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 2/5/13 vs. Lightning

Michael Stuart: Rangers Spoil Lightning's Home Stand Record

Remember to Give Michael a Follow on Twitter! As the old proverb says, all good things must come to an end. The New York Rangers came to town and handed the Tampa Bay Lightning their first home ice loss of the season. In what can only be described as a disappointing performance from the Lightning, the Rangers managed to dictate the pace of play, clog the neutral zone and suffocate...
