Martin St. Louis has been struck in the face by a puck during the Tampa Bay Lightning's morning skate and is unlikely to play Thursday night against the New York Rangers in what would be his 500th consecutive game.
St. Louis was hit near his left eye when teammate Dominic Moore shot wide of the net Thursday. The Lightning's star forward was bleeding when he left the ice at Madison Square Garden and was assisted to the dressing room by a trainer.
Tampa Bay has lost five in a row and nine of 12. St. Louis' consecutive games streak in the second-longest current run behind Calgary defenseman Jay Boumeester's 531-game run.
St. Louis is second on the Lightning with 22 points and third with nine goals in 27 games.
