Somewhat big day in the negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA. A federal mediator has been brought in.  But don’t get to jammed up about it.[  SportingNews ] “The federal mediator is simply trying to get the collective bargaining process to move more productively,” said Daniel E. Lazaroff, a professor at Loyola Law School and director of the Loyola Sports Law Institute. “Of course, if they reach an agreement, there won’t be a need for decertification, but it does not preclude that option at all if a mediator cannot facilitate a new collective bargaining agreement. … This is simply part of the collective bargaining process. If it fails, then we get to the legal options—union decertification, unfair labor practice charges, or antitrust suits.” Two interesting tweets last night from two people at different ends of the spectrum. Some agent said this:   I don't expect much to come from the mediated sessions...however I do expect the CBA to be resolved between December 15th-25th what is so... — Brian Lawton (@brianlawton9) November 28, 2012 Lawton went on to say he thinks it is more about having a season at this point and there is interest on both sides. Separately, John Buccigross tweeted this:   NHL player told me NHL team front office person told him, 48 game schedule beginning in Jan. is already outlined #rockoutwithyourNHLockout — John Buccigross (@Buccigross) November 28, 2012   Does the union threat of decertification threaten that? Probably. So that is where we are today.  Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin tumblr search of the day We got bored a few weeks ago, and started searching Malkin and Crosby on tumblr. It is wild. Saw this when searching Crosby: What a haircut. Also was Crosby going to school with Harry Potter? Elsewhere, Malkin and Gonch went hunting: Dude on the left looks like a Bond henchman from Golden Eye.
