Fan favorite and beloved local hero Craig Conroy announced his retirement from the NHL today. NHLHS Calgary Flames correspondent Shahbaz Syed takes a look into number 24’s remarkable career both on and off the ice.
Everybody in Calgary knows who Craig Conroy is, perhaps one of the most recognizable individuals in town. The hockey icon is a fan favorite and loved by Calgarians of all shapes and sizes. Number 24 did it all; from his play on the ice, dedication to his team, his community and his humanitarian nature.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting of Craig Conroy and have nothing but amazing things to say about him. He took the time and effort to talk to me about medicine, family and life. He willingly reached out to a fan and didn’t think twice about it. It is often hard to find an athlete who truly cares about his fans and supporters, but Craig Conroy is one of those guys. Always willing to help in the community, sign autographs and go out of his way to meet fans – it is no won...
