Today, Los Angeles Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced a new six-year, $25 million-dollar, contract with defenseman, Slava Voynov. Voynov, 23, although a little small of stature for a defenseman (6-foot-0, 190 lbs), was a big impact on the Kings post-season run, scoring six goals (four game winning) and assisting seven. Also, he shared the Kings plus/minus statistic at +9 in the Kings 18 games this post-season. Slava Voynov is a native to Chelyabinsk, Russia, and is a second year player for the Kings. Voynov was a part of the Kings 2011/2012 Stanley Cup Champion team. Voynov was a second-round pick by the Kings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and then went on to spend four season with the Manchester Monarchs, where he was named to the AHL All-Star Teams in 2010 and 2011. Over his two seasons with the Kings, Voynov is averaging 7 goals and 15.5 assist per season (that including a full 48-game post lockout season). Voynov is not known for penalties, as he spends roughly 13 minutes per season in the sin bin, and is on the ice for quite a few more goals for the Kings than the opposing team with a 17 plus/minus.   For more updates on the Los Angeles Kings, follow me on Twitter (@taylorblakeward) and don’t forget to follow ValleyBayNews.com as well (@ValleyBayNews).Tweet
