Loui Eriksson wanted a different result than last night’s 3-2 shootout loss to his former team. All things considered, however, it was a good first step back. Eriksson, who missed five games after suffering a concussion on an elbow to the head by Buffalo’s John Scott, took a regular shift last night with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, seeing time on both the power-play and penalty-killing units. He took four shots, three that were on net, in 20:17 of ice time. “I felt good,” said Eriksson, adding there was no hesitancy in his game. “The head felt all right, and I got some hits out there from them . . . so that’s positive.” His timing and touch were a little off, as expected. Early in the game, he elected to pass on a good scoring opportunity and was credited with both a takeaway and a giveaway. “It felt all right,” he shrugged. “I thought we played really good the first 10, the whole team, and after that, we were putting ourselves in trouble and doing several poor plays out there. . . . We have to be better as a group, work harder and play smarter.” Eriksson had a chance to contribute in the shootout, but former teammate Kari Lehtonen made a glove save on his bid. “I’ve been shooting a lot of pucks on him, and he’s a great goalie,” Eriksson said. “He’s a big goalie, takes up a lot of the net, so you have to find a good shot against him or make a good move, and I didn’t, so it was bad.” Krug, third line jell The B’s first goal was scored by Torey Krug on a terrific shift by the young defenseman, who also seemed to develop some chemistry with the reunited third line of Carl Soderberg, Chris Kelly and Reilly Smith. Krug caused Rich Peverley to cough up the puck at the left half-wall, and it went to Soderberg. The Swede wheeled into the high slot and fed Smith on the right side. Smith then made a perfect pass to Krug at the side of the net. “We played a lot in preseason. I think we had pretty good chemistry together, so I think we just build off that,” said Smith, who took a four-minute high-sticking penalty early in the third. . . . A tough call went against the B’s with 1:20 left when the Stars’ Alex Chiasson batted a loose puck out of the air and into the stands. As the four officials convened to talk about it, the Garden HDx showed Chiasson knocking the puck out. No penalty was called. . . . After going an abysmal 1-for-14 in the faceoff dot in his previous game, Tyler Seguin was 6-for-9 last night. Jamie Benn took most of the draws for Seguin’s line, however, winning 6-of-11.
