(Photo/Justin Soderberg/Down on the Yarn) The Lowell Spinners season is close to coming to an end with their final home game of the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 1st and Milan Lucic’s Rock and Jock Softball game on Thursday, Sept. 5th. However, even with the season coming to an end, the party is just getting started. The Lowell Spinners, in conjunction with Merrimack Valley Distributors, will be having their second annual Oktoberfest / Family Fun Day at LeLacheur Park on Saturday, Sept. 14th from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.. Unlike most Oktoberfest’s the Spinners are committed to family fun and this is a day for the whole family. The Spinners and Merrimack Valley Distributors announced the first run of participating breweries this week: Slumbrew, Baxter, Sam Adams, Angry Orchard, Curious Traveler, Twisted Tea, Narragansett, Newburyport, Harpoon, Woodchuck, Blanche de Bruxelles, Belhaven, Long Trail, Otter Creek, Shed and Wolavers. In addition to the outstanding selection of beers available for tasting, the Lowell Spinners are planning to have live music from local bands ranging from jazz to country and rock and roll; contests throughout the day including Samuel Adams Beer Stein Hoisting Contest, a classic car show across the outfield; dunk the beer wench; and Oktoberfest “Best Dressed” Competition. Bring the kids and enjoy unlimited access in the Swampland Kids Area to the inflatable rides: Bounce House, Giant Slide, Obstacle Course and Thomas the Tank Engine rides on the field! There are a few options for tickets to this year’s Oktoberfest: Age 21+ Single ($10) - Includes a single ticket to the event and five drink tickets. Age 21+ Home Run ($20) - Includes a ticket to the event, 10 drink tickets and two reserve ticket vouchers, good for any 2013 Spinners Game (Must order prior to August 29). Ages 5+ - Admission to the event with free Thomas the Tank Engine Rides on the field, unlimited access to the Kids Area and more! Ages 4 & Under - FREE!
