There was a new face at the Minnesota Wild's practice session Monday.
Defenseman Mike Lundin was on the ice for his first practice with the team since early in the preseason. The 27-year-old Lundin, who was signed as a free agent, has been suffering from back spasms.
The Apple Valley, Minn. native has been skating on his own and was "anxious" to get out there with the team.
"It's been a long wait," said Lundin, and I'm "a little rusty, but it just feels good to be skating with the guys."
Lundin said he has "never had an injury this long" and there is no timetable for his return. "I don't know how long it will take to get the rust off and get the lungs back."
He will travel with the team on the five-game road trip to Calgary, San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim and Columbus to practice. With the young defensemen of the Wild playing so well it isn't necessary to rush Lundin back. The Wild have allowed only three goals in the last four games.
