Yesterday we pondered what would happen to Tomas Vokoun and other goaltenders that came away without contracts on Friday. Not long after that, the Washington Capitals pulled off the biggest steal of free agency by signing Vokoun to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.Immediately, stunned pundits criticized Vokoun for taking way less than his actual market value. Or they quickly pointed out that 13 Capitals make more money than their new starting goaltender. When you think about it, the $1.5 million contract makes sense for both sides.Going into the frenzy, Vokoun was the top goaltender available; which also meant that a hefty price tag ($5 million?) was included for any team that wanted him.
