In case the Dolphins and Buccaneers aren’t enough to make Monday any better, now you have something to watch on repeat to get you through the work day. Two words: goalie fight. Apparently young Malcolm Subban is quickly learning how to capture the hearts of Boston fans. With Providence already leading 5-0 late in the third period Sunday, things got chippy. The second fight of the game turned into a line brawl, and as everything was winding down, Subban and Hartford Wolfpack’s goaltender Scott Stajcer skated to center ice and dropped their gloves. The two clearly just felt left out in their respective ends of the ice, though, because after a few shots apiece, the two just stopped what they were doing, tapped the other on the side, and skated their separate ways. Providence would take the game 6-0. Check out video of the goalie fight below, but beware of the shrieking girl 13 seconds in. Enjoy. Rangers should avoid trade market

Andrew Theodorakis/New York Daily News In case you missed it, this past Friday Larry Brooks reported Michael Del Zotto may be in AV’s dog house, pointing to the fact he only played 2:59 in the third period against Columbus, and could potentially be moved. While I don’t doubt the coaching staff and organization as a whole may be losing their patience with MDZ, a trade still...

Practice notes: Nash/Moore skating, Pyatt concussed

In a series of tweets from Andrew Gross, Rick Nash (concussion) skated before practice, and has been symptom free for a few days now. Nash is still close to week-to-week than day-to-day, but seeing him skating is always a good sign. Gross also noted that Dominic Moore (oblique) was skating with Nash before practice, and that Taylor Pyatt is indeed concussed after taking a headshot...

Rick Nash skates for first time since injury

New York Rangers forward Rick Nash skated Saturday for the first time since sustaining a head injury in a game against the San Jose Sharkson Oct. 8. Nash missed 13 games after being hit by Brad Stuart. The Rangers have gone 7-6-0 without Nash. “Dealing with the brain, you always want to be careful,” Nash said after his skate. “I’m inching forward here. I’m getting better...

New York Rangers complete second winning week in a row

When the Rangers returned home two weeks ago after spending nearly a month on the road, their season had already reached a crossroads. They were 3-6 but beginning to compete, and with seven of their next nine games at home, it was high time to start banking some wins. Eight games into the homestand, the Rangers have done exactly what they needed to do to breathe life back into this...

New York Rangers: Rick Nash eyes return date soon

In the 1st period of a…Read more →The post New York Rangers: Rick Nash eyes return date soon appeared first on The Hockey Daily.

Malcom Subban, Scott Stajcer have a goalie fight

Won't someone think of the goalies! Today in a line brawl between the Providence Bruins and the Hartford Wolf Pack, goaltenders Malcom Subban and Scott Stajcer skated out to center ice. This, of course, happened: You'll notice some differences from other recent goalie fights. There were no visible punches to the back of the head, no one goalie skating to the other end...

Around the farm: Struggling Pack routed by Providence

* Just a note: I know that I’ve said I will get these out daily. Had a bit of a rough start to the month. Luckily the Euro prospects are all on break. Will continue to try to get these out as much as possible. The Hartford Wolf Pack are certainly struggling. After starting the season with five straight wins, the Pack have dropping to 7-5-0-2, including a 0-3-0-1 run. While this...

Rick Nash skates for first time since suffering head injury

Though there is no timetable yet for Rick Nash's return, but the Rangers got a bit of good news Saturday morning when Nash skated for the first time since suffering a concussion Oct. 8. Nash did not practice with the team for its full morning skate, but went out with the goalies for a bit earlier. The star winger has missed 13 games so far since taking a high hit from Sharks...

Game 17: The trap game

Photo: AP A team riding a 5-1 streak over six games, facing one of the worst teams in the league that just fired its entire coaching staff? Yea, this is the definition of a trap game. For the Rangers, this is the first of two remaining games against bad teams (Tuesday against the Devils being the second) before they play three straight against playoff-bound teams. At 8-8, a win tonight...

Streaking Rangers beat Florida, finally over .500

Photo by Scott Levy/NHLI via Getty Images The Rangers are finally over .500 for the first time this season. Riding a 6-1 stretch, the Rangers held on against the Florida Panthers for a 4-3 win. The Rangers played well this game, but so did the Panthers, who gave the Rangers fits through the first two periods. It wasn’t until a costly turnover and a converted 5-on-3 that the Rangers...

Friedman: Rangers looking at OHL free agent Colin Suellentrop

Photo by Aaron Bell/OHL Images Per Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers are showing interest in OHL defenseman Colin Suellentrop. The 6’1, 190-lb. right-handed defenseman was drafted by the Flyers in 2011, but was not signed by the June, 2013 deadline, making him a free agent. Suellentrop also went unsigned this past summer. Friedman notes that Suellentrop may be a classic late bloomer...

Rangers finally jump over .500 mark with 4-3 win over Panthers

Let’s stipulate Sunday’s 4-3 victory over the Panthers at the Garden will never see the light of day in a Rangers Classic Marathon on MSG Network, but at the same time, let’s recognize there is no such thing as a bad two points in the NHL. “We’ll take every win we can get,” Dan Girardi said after the Blueshirts bounded over .500 at 9-8 with their sixth victory in their...

Panthers-Rangers Preview

The New York Rangers are rolling after a rocky start and insist they're not overlooking a Florida Panthers squad reeling from eight straight losses. The Rangers will try to continue their impressive turnaround when they host the Panthers on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. New York (8-8-0) opened the season with six losses in its first eight games, surrendering an average...

Devils-Rangers Preview

The surging New York Rangers have pulled it together after an ugly start. The New Jersey Devils may finally be doing the same. Looking for their seventh win in eight games Tuesday night, the Rangers host a Devils team that's shut down opponents during a three-game unbeaten streak. New York (9-8-0) continued to make its forgettable first 10 games an increasingly distant memory...

Rolling Rangers Take Out Panthers 4-3

The Panthers fought hard throughout this game but they couldn’t distinguish the flame under the surging Rangers. The Blueshirts defeat the Florida Panthers and hand them their 9th straight game. First period, both teams played an evenly fast paced game. The Blueshirts scored first when JT Miller netted a beauty of a goal, assisted by […]
