Bleed Black & Gold:
Evgeni Malkin has stepped in a big way in the last week. In his last 5 games he has amassed an impressive 13 points, 5 goals and 8 assists. In last night’s win over the streaking Chicago Blackhawks, who had previously won 5 straight games, Malkin had a hand in all three goals that were scored to put the Pens over the top for the win.
Of the 3 others he is tied with at the top of the NHL points, Phil Kessel, Claude Giroux and Henrik Sedin, Malkin has hit the 39 point mark in less games than all of them. Malkin is currently averaging 1.44 points per game with a +5 rating and has had 130 shots on goal. Fifteen of his points have come on power plays, 5 goals and 10 assists.
It would seem that Malkin has fully recovered from his knee surgery last season and is just hitting his stride this season. This is the guy that we haven’t truly seen in awhile, but it sure is nice to have him back.
The Pens next game is Friday at Winnipeg, a team they lost to 2-1 back in October. Malkin was ...

Sidney Crosby can take his time returning from his bout with concussion-symptoms, as long as Evgeni Malkin keeps playing like this.
The absence of Sidney Crosby would appear to take a bit of the luster away from a matchup of anticipated Stanley Cup contenders. The Pittsburgh Penguins, though, still have Evgeni Malkin, who has done his best to fill the scoring void left by his superstar teammate.
Malkin will try to continue his red-hot play Tuesday night when the streaking Chicago Blackhawks visit the Consol...

Is it just me or does it seem like the All-Star Game is even less important than it is in other years? With Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang both sidelined with concussions, Iâm not sure Iâd even want them to play if they could. Iâd give Evgeni Malkin the game off, too, to rest...
